  3. PPC, Fat, & 68k

  5. PPC : The software was written only for the PowerPC family of Macintoshes (usually a Power Macintosh). The Power Macintosh is distinguished by its processor -- a Motorola PowerPC CPU chip.

  7. Fat: The software was written for any Macintosh be it the PPC family of Macs or the 680x0 family of Macs. Such software contains code written for both processors (PPC and 680x0). Because of this, the file will always be much larger in size.

  9. 68k : The software was written only for the 680x0 family of Macs but may be run by PowerMacs in a slower emulation mode. The 680x0 Macintoshes are distinguished by any of the following Motorola CPU chips: 68000, 68020, 68030 and 68040.
